‘Thoughts’ in War… But He’s Prince of Peace?

God is faithful. God is love. God is peace. I was listening to the song “Prince Of Peace”by Hillsong United (I encourage you to listen to it if you haven’t) and the word Faithful came to me. At first I didn’t know why. I listen to the song often but never really listened to the lyrics and what it meant to me.

The part of the song that caught my attention are as follows:

“Your love surrounds me
When my thoughts wage war
When night screams terror
There Your voice will roar
Come death or shadow
God I know Your light will meet me there”

This hit deep. We all have moments and times in our lives when our minds get the worst of us. We are our worst enemy sometimes. We listen to the lies of the devil and we find ourselves in a hole. We stand there and look up at God and say “Lord, please help me” or even just a “Help me.” We feel empty and broken like we may never be full again. Our hearts harden and it’s like we are in a dark cloud. Like when the whole world just flipped upside down and we can’t fix it on our own.

In these moments, the moments of “help me Lord” Gods love surrounds us. Every time without fail he is there to help. Faithful. That’s faithful. My God is a God of peace, love, and forgiveness. As Christians we are able to have full confidence that God will get us out of the dark hole. He will reach down with his love and his light and bring an amazing sense of comfort and acceptance. A feeling that won’t fail to bring joy. A feeling like no other.

He has never failed me yet, and he won’t fail on you. His love for us is beyond comprehension. Only our Heavenly Father is able to get us out of the pit and bring Joy and Peace into our lives. He won’t give up on you, he’s always there to listen and he is always there to comfort.

Psalm 92:14-15 states:

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will recuse him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.”

If you are in that hole today, please cry out. It will be the best decision you will ever make.
